Who publishes FjordTide

What the app keeps on your device

Saved plans, selected places or coordinates, downloaded tide packets and app preferences are stored locally on your iPhone. The app does not require an account or provide a remote plan library. You can remove your saved content using the app’s deletion controls. Export and sharing are explicit actions through Apple’s system interfaces.

When a network request happens

When you ask for a tide plan for a named place, station or manually entered Norway coordinate, your device may contact the data provider needed for that request. A request can include the selected coordinate or Danish station, requested date and technical request information. A provider and its infrastructure can see your IP address. This is different from local saved-plan content and is governed by the provider’s own terms and privacy practices.

Norway data is requested from the Norwegian Mapping Authority, Hydrographic Service (Kartverket). Selected Danish station data is requested from the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) where the app’s tested coverage supports it. DMI’s terms of use describe logging IP address, request URL/query and request time for up to 60 months; check the current policy before using the service. Provider availability, coverage and retention can change.

Place selection

The current app does not request or collect device location and has no background location service. You choose a named supported place or enter Norway coordinates manually; a provider request carries the selected place or coordinate and date needed to return its predictions.

Limited app analytics

FjordTide uses TelemetryDeck to understand app use and improve the product. Limited events are enabled by default in the App Store build: opening the app, onboarding progress, completion of core actions, paywall exposure, and purchase or restore outcomes. Events may include the app version, purchase-plan category, and an app-specific experiment assignment. Analytics never includes selected coordinates, station names, requested dates, heights, tide times, saved plans, notes, receipts, transaction identifiers or raw errors. Tide-provider requests described above are separate from analytics. TelemetryDeck uses a salted, hashed app-specific identifier to count repeat use; no account, advertising identifier or cross-app advertising profile is supplied.

You can disable this sharing in Settings → Privacy. An existing refusal is preserved. Disabling stops new events and discards queued events on the device; enabling again takes effect after reopening the app. Development and simulator traffic is excluded and TestFlight events are marked as test data. TelemetryDeck states that it does not store IP addresses and processes analytics in the European Union. Retention and anonymization details are described in its privacy FAQ; we do not promise a fixed retention period for already delivered aggregate events.

The website has no cookies, advertising pixels or analytics. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request/security logs to host and protect this site, even though the site does not use analytics.

App Store transactions

Apple handles payment for monthly and annual subscriptions and the one-time lifetime purchase, and provides transaction and entitlement status to the app. FjordTide does not receive your payment-card details. Limited purchase-plan and outcome events may be included in the analytics described above; receipts and transaction identifiers are not sent to TelemetryDeck. Apple’s own privacy terms apply to its store and payment processing.

Data sources and attribution

FjordTide displays astronomical predictions, not observed water levels or weather-adjusted forecasts. Provider data is shown with its source, reference level and date context when available. Kartverket and DMI data is used under their published terms and the CC BY 4.0 license where applicable. Saved or shared displays keep the provider credit and a notice when FjordTide has normalized, rounded or otherwise derived the presentation; no provider endorsement is implied. Their service may process requests independently of FjordTide.

Support email

If you email support, your chosen mail app and email provider handle the message, and Cloudflare may forward mail for the support address. Support messages are kept only as long as needed to answer your request and meet legal or security obligations. Please do not send sensitive information or a complete copy of your location history by email.
